Cox Media is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to be responsible for supervising a team of skilled technician and operations assistants who maintain all technical systems related to the prospecting, sale, production and programs for Advertising Sales.
Job Summary:
Responsibilities include the ad insertion control devices, playback units, spot reel creation equipment, video production systems, computers, computer networks and communication devices. As technology continues to develop, the Engineering Supervisor and their team will be required to make the transition smoothly from generation to generation of equipment. The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for interacting with management and staff in a manner that proactively provides solutions to challenges and recognizes the opportunities available to maximize ad sales revenue through the use of technical resources. The Engineering Supervisor will work closely with the Regional Operations Specialist and coordinate the teams resources with regard to any projects which involve local area networking.
Reports to the Operations Manager. This position has Operations Technicians and Operations Assistants reporting to it. Travel required.
Principle Accountabilities:
Ensures peak operation insertion systems, possibly consisting of multiple sites
Ensures peak operation of local area networks, possibly consisting of multiple sites through coordination and assistance from the Regional Operations Specialists IT.
Designs, installs and maintains ad insertion equipment, computer systems, networking systems, communications and office equipment.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on a regular, predetermined schedule as required by all equipment
Trains personnel in the proper use of new and existing technology, computer operating systems and software.
Responsible for facilities planning and maintenance
Creates documentation and checklists to be used by site personnel in completing daily tasks; in addition but not limited to VISIO asbuilt drawings of network topography and MS Project for project planning
Responsible for the security, backup and preservation of all electronic business data.
Selects, trains, directs and motivates employees; evaluates performance and recommends salary actions for subordinates
Will be required to stay abreast of industry and technological advances through periodicals and publications.
Will be responsible for creating and keeping an up to date business continuity plan.
Will be required to provide for continuous emergency coverage by qualified personnel on an on-call basis.
May be asked to travel to assist, teach or install equipment for other Cox Media operations.
May be required to perform duties of the Operations Technician or Operations Assistant as needed.

Job Requirements:
40 – 50% travel required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred with an emphasis in engineering or computer science.
3-5 years job experience in a technical field.
Related job experience or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
Excellent management abilities in personnel, project planning, administration, organization and execution skills.
Network Administration experience preferred.
Strong knowledge in Windows/Windows NT/2000, Microsoft Office software, personal computers and ocal area networking equipment required.
Video engineering or broadcast television experience preferred.
Experience with commercial ad insertion technology preferred.
Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education will be considered.
